13 Personality Types in Every Office [INFOGRAPHIC]
Is your workplace home to a chatterbox, delegator, backstabber, or enthusiastic meeting scheduler? Are you one of these grating personalities? Guest author and Ragan.com editor Kristin Piombino tells all here.
If you ask someone what they hated most about school as a kid, there's a good chance they would say group projects.
You remember it: The teacher would describe some hard, time-consuming assignment, and then tell you not to worry because you can work with 3 other students to get it done.
It sounds nice in theory, but not when your group inevitably consists of a slacker, chatterbox, and bossy delegator.
As it turns out, teachers assigned those dreadful group projects to prep us for office life. Those same annoying personalities from middle school are all grown up and working at your office—they just may have a few new quirks. And despite their grating personalities, you all have to work together.
An infographic from National Pen lists the 13 personality types in every office. Do you recognize any of these?
The backstabber: This person pretends to be your friend, but only long enough to steal your good ideas and snag your raise.
The chatterbox: You immediately turn the other way when you see this person coming down the hall. You know he'll suck you into an endless recap of his weekend.
The delegator: This person loves to delegate his work to other people, and never does any of it himself.
The downer: This person complains about everything from management to coworkers to policies, yet she will probably never leave the company.
The meeting scheduler: This person loves meetings so much that you can imagine her scheduling dinner meetings and bedtime stories with her kids.
Do any of these personality types sound familiar? Do they sound like you?
