Can You Get Fit on a Budget? Yes!
Think you can't get fit without spending a lot of money? Get-Fit Guy has the key to fitness on a budget.
Let’s face it, traditional weight loss, with its pricey shakes and fancy gym equipment, doesn’t come cheap. And while both Money Girl’s Quick & Dirty Tips for a Richer Life and my episode How to Get Fit on a Budget will certainly help you, I wanted to share a quick thought I had this morning while surveying my home gym:
It doesn’t take much fancy equipment or a big budget to get fit!
For example, the main staples of my home gym, where I exercise about 85% of the time, are:
a yoga mat
a suspension strap to hang from my door (I use the MostFit)
elastic tube with handles
1 set of 40-pound dumbbells
a stability ball
a Bosu ball (like a stability ball cut in half, for balance exercises)
The cost of all of these items combined is about $150. The remainder of my fitness routine involves swimming in the nearby river, riding a bike or running outdoors, or using our family YMCA pass.
