How to Increase Your Fat Burning
Increase your fat burning with this quick tip from Get-Fit Guy.
A recent study entitled “Effect of Circadian Rhythm on Peak of Maximal Fat Oxidation on Non-Athletic Men” looked into whether fat burning could be affected by the time of day that you exercise.
In the study, a run test was performed with 3-minute stages and increased speed and slope to physical exhaustion at 3 different times of day: 6-8am, 5-7pm, and 9:30-11pm.
The results showed that even if intensity was the same during all 3 sessions, the average maximum fat burning after exercising at the evening time was significantly higher than during the morning and the afternoon times!
Researchers concluded that circadian rhythm does indeed influence maximal fat oxidation and fat oxidation is significantly higher in the evening than in the morning.
However, whether this would actually result in significant fat loss remains to be seen, and, of course, if the morning is a time that motivates you and keeps you exercising more than if you switched things to the evening – or if evening exercise keeps you awake at night and causes you to lose sleep – then this evening exercise concept may not be worth it! For me personally, there’s simply no way that I’m going to exercise at 9:30pm.
