How to Properly End a Phone Call?

How many times have you had this conversation:

Person A: "Why did you hang up on me?"

Person B: "We were done talking!"

Person C: "I didn't realize that."

We've all been there. I can't tell you how many times someone has ended a conversation with me, and I was left wondering if I angered or offended them in some way.

Here's the tip, folks: Hanging up without saying "Goodbye" is rude. It takes a milli-second to say but can save you hours of agita. I just said it 5 times while writing this tip, and that was slow. Yes, you may be in a hurry but saying "goodbye" is the only proper and polite way to end the phone conversation.

Simply slamming the phone shut or skipping out shows that you really don't respect the person's time. You don't have to love them or sing sweet melodies in their ear when you finish your chat, but not taking the moment for a proper adieu is just tacky. You never know how they may misinterpret your abrupt hang-up.

So, can you hear me now? I am saying Goodbye!
