Ask the Diva: What’s Even Better Than Oatmeal?
How does oat bran compare to oatmeal? Nutrition Diva answers a listener’s question.

Answer. It’s not surprising that oat bran is about 50% higher in fiber than whole rolled oats—after all, the bran is where most of the fiber in a grain is found. But when I realized that it was also 50% higher in protein, I started eating oat bran cereal instead of oatmeal. As you say, it’s even quicker to make and I like the creamy texture. Plus, more protein and fiber make for a more filling breakfast. In this case, I don’t think you’re giving anything up by not eating the whole grain. In fact, your breakfast sounds terrific! Keep up the good work.
